Kayak Shop Manager (and everything else in the other job listing below)

North Shore Adventures and Outdoor Center (NSAOC) is looking to hire one qualified individual to work as our shop manager this year. Do you have experience guiding, teaching, kayaking, working with the public, and are responsible, fun, and outgoing?

Join us and spend this year (May-Nov) in the sun and on the water, playing hard, having fun, and getting paid to go kayaking!

Responsibilities : (in addition to those in other job listing below):

• Overseeing, advising, and guiding other staff as needed

• Make executive decisions regarding safety, sales, and customer needs

• Be flexible to work some short weeks in the spring/fall and have some long weeks in the summer. Approx. 40 hr average June-Sept. Less hours in the spring/fall.

• Be available to lead any tours that no will else is available to do

• Able to stay calm and collected in stressful situations

• Be local and familiar with the Cape Ann shore line area (particularly related to kayaking)

• Be able to lift heavy (50lb) kayaks solo at times

• Be handy and fix kayaks and bikes that break (or at least tell me about them)

• Be able to work the shop solo occasionally

Requirements (in addition to those in other job listing below):

• Previous experience kayaking around Cape Ann

• Previous retail experience 

• Preferably college graduate or close to graduating

• Preferably some experience managing other staff

Availability: 

Must be available starting in March-June (part-time) through the summer (full-time) and Sept-Nov (part-time). Any vacations just let me know as soon as possible.

Kayak Tour Guide, Outdoor Sales Person, Dock Staff

North Shore Adventures and Outdoor Center (NSAOC) is hiring kayakers and outdoor ocean lovers for this summer season! Are you looking for a fun, active, outdoor job on the ocean? We are looking to hire several kayak guides and/or land based team members for this Summer season.  Ideally our guides will come with at least some experience ocean kayaking, be fun, outgoing and engaging.

Responsibilities: 

• Helping customers get suited up, trained, and answer questions about the equipment, where to go, and any other concerns for the customer. 

• Providing safety briefing/talk to customers 

• Loading and unloading of boats off boat trailers, paddling watercraft to the beach, and showing clients basic paddling technique. 

• Be aware of hazards on the waterfront and emergency response protocols. 

• Some time may include indoor work such as using a cash register, taking phone reservations, organizing inventory, and retail sales.

• Be willing and excited to learn about some of the local ecology, history, and other fun facts to educate customers with

• Lead tour groups for 2-4 hr paddles around Rockport, and the islands

• If groups/individuals need assistance paddle out and help them

Requirements: 

• Be polite, responsible, friendly, hard-working, and able to lift 50 pounds

• CPR and First Aid certification is required (you can get it after employment is started)

• Have some kayaking experience (paid training is included)

• Be a good team member, flexible, adaptable, and go above and beyond to do what needs to be done

Availability:
